Managing Director at Stout

Stephen Holzen, CLP, is a Managing Director for Stout Risius Ross, a global investment bank and advisory firm specializing in corporate finance, transaction advisory, valuation, disputes, claims and investigation services.  Stephen is an expert witness and consultant in Stout’s valuation and disputes practices. He has testified and consulted on valuation and litigation matters in federal and state courts, at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), in the Federal Court of Claims (CFC), at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He co-authored a book titled “Winning the Patent Damages Case” which serves as a desk reference for patent litigators and in-house counsel involved in patent infringement matters. Prior to his consulting career, Stephen served as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a registered Patent Agent, a Certified Licensing Professional, a Certified Valuation Analyst, and has been recognized as a top economic expert witness by the IAM Patent 1000 from 2019-2023.  Stephen received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Penn State University and his Master of Business Administration from American University.
