Membership Categories & Dues
LES memberships run through the calendar year, starting January 1st and ending December 31st. All memberships are non-transferrable, and dues cannot be prorated. (But, memberships started in quarter 4, are good for the remainder of the current year and throughout the next full membership year)

Individual Membership – $425/year
Our regular individual membership option. Any individual with a solid ethical background and business connections who agrees to follow the LES’s code of conduct, and plays a key role in handling the licensing, transfer, or management of intellectual property or related matters, is eligible to become an active member.

Emerging Leaders of LES – $195/year
Elevate your career affordably! This membership category is for individuals with less than 10 years of professional experience in IP and licensing. Your LES membership will help you build a well-rounded career with access to resources like:

IP Owner Group Membership – $2095/year
Our most cost-effective option for multiple members! This category allows for up to 15 employees of the IP Owner organization to join LES as active members—more than $4,000 in savings when compared to individual membership rates! Special pricing is available if you wish to enroll more than 15 employees.
This special IP Owner Group Membership includes full LES membership benefits, and additional perks such as:
- Permanent early bird pricing for members to attend our Annual Meeting.
- Access to LES Deal Term and Royalty Rate Surveys
- Pay for one LES group member to attend a half-day virtual meeting and have the rest of your group members attend for free (one half-day meeting per year).
- Virtual education class discount: Buy one IP Owner Group Member attendee, get one free Group Member.

IP Owners include Operating Companies owning Intellectual Property/IP, Academia (educational, non-profit and/or research institutions) owning IP, and US and Canadian government entities (register by entity) and Incubators and Accelerators, including their designated members.
IP Owner Group Membership begins upon payment of dues and runs for one full year. Renewal is on an anniversary basis.
*IP Owner organizations include: Operating Companies**, Academia (educational, non-profit and/or research institutions), and government entities (registry by entity).
**Operating Companies: This category includes commercial entities that develop and sell intellectual property based products and services: whether hardware-based, software-based, or information-based; whether chemical-based or material-based; whether energy-based, communication-based, or transportation-based; whether utility-based or security-based; whether reseller-based or financially-based; whether food-based or beverage-based; whether travel-based or entertainment-based; or whether based on any other type of field or value proposition outside the categories of Patent Licensing Firms, Intellectual Property Brokers, Intellectual Property Consultancies/Agents, Intellectual Property Law Firms, and Intellectual Property Management/Transaction Software, Software Services, and Information Services Firms.
Global IP Owner Membership – $5000/year
This pilot global membership is a simple plan for an IP Owner Organizations* to enroll their employees around the world for one annual fee and is coordinated through LES International (LESI).
IP Owners can register employees to participate in any of the 33 LES regional societies (such as USA/CA), ensuring that your employees are connected to the largest network of IP licensing professionals in the world.
Benefits:
- All members designated by their IP Owner organization receive full membership benefits from LES, including free webinars, member-discounts for events, access to LES & LESI sectors, committees and chapters, and access to member-only resources and documents (including the LES USA/CA Royalty Rate and Deal Term Surveys and LESI’s global journal, les Nouvelles).
- LES Global IP Owner Member organizations will receive additional visibility from listing as a Global IP Owner organization on the LESI and LES website(s) and in les Nouvelles.
- LES Global membership Program is designed primarily for organizations with a large number of employees who may be located in multiple global locations.
Student Membership – $60/year
Our most affordable membership option for blossoming IP and licensing professionals! Students are invited to begin their professional journeys with LES as long as they are regularly enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student at an accredited college, university, or post-graduate institution, and have a bona fide interest in the profession.
Eligibility for student memberships runs until the end of the fiscal year of the society in which the member is no longer a student.
Emeritus Membership – $195/year
This special level of membership is for a person who has been an active member of the Society for at least five (5) consecutive years, but is no longer engaged in licensing, valuation or management of intellectual property rights or activity in technology transfer.
These applications are reviewed at the quarterly LES Board of Directors meetings. Applicants will be notified about the status of your application after the meeting.
* This category of membership currently receives all benefits associated with LES membership.
