We will all be gathering in San Francisco this Fall, October 16th-19th, for our first in-person LES Annual Meeting in three years! The “City by the Bay” is a great location for our global community of over 500 expected attendees– IP professionals just like yourself, looking to re-connect, network with peers, and enjoy unparalleled content and outstanding keynote speakers. Under the theme of “Commercializing Innovation”, the meeting will be infused with the spirit of entrepreneurship that is so unique to the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

Our planning committee has curated a program which offers something for everyone: from a “back to the basics” track for people just starting out with their IP licensing career, to more advanced topics related to standard-essential patents, NFT’s and emerging digital assets, sustainability, university-industry collaborations, startups & emerging enterprises, trade secrets & other non-patent assets, IP valuation, and more.

To plan for your conference experience, please check some of our program highlights:

We will be kicking off with our Welcome Reception, one of the traditional highlights of the annual meeting. Hosted by the Silicon Valley and San Francisco chapters, we will celebrate everything-California under the theme: “California Dreaming: from Flowers in your Hair to the Metaverse”. Wear your favorite California-themed attire and join the celebration!

Monday, October 17, 2022
Launching off the program, the Opening Plenary panel will feature licensing leaders from Meta, Stanford and GE. Our Deals of Distinction Awards lunchtime ceremony will recognize notable IP deals across the various LES sectors. The concurrent workshop sessions cover topics such as innovation, sustainability, international trade and trademarks. This year we are also featuring Discussion Tables where members are welcome to engage in spirited discussion of hot topics moderated by other LES member. Finally, we will conclude the day with a themed networking reception at The Press Club, San Francisco.

Tuesday, October 18, 2022
Tuesday’s keynote speaker is the General Counsel of Altos Labs, an exciting new startup dedicated to the study of aging. Our workshops will feature a recurring, popular presentation of the “Top 10 Court Decisions of the Year Affecting Licensing”. Other workshops cover a broad array of topics such as: smart contracts, connected cars, cybersecurity, standard essential patents, ESG and innovation, and more. Sector lunches are another opportunity to check in on the pulse of our sectors, and see what they plan for the year to come.
