IP Business Basics 101: The Business BridgeSM Course: Making Money through IP Deals -An introduction to what IP is (and how it works) in the business world.
This one-day, deal-centric course has been designed by experienced License Executives Society (LES) (U.S.A. & Canada) executives for business and licensing professionals who are newer to the field in the United States and Canada. Whether it is a trademark, international brand, copyright, patent, know-how, trade secrets, or a combination of some/all of these, recent transactions and auctions have confirmed the value of IP in business. This course is interactive and built around real-world examples and small, hands-on, group exercises.
IP & Licensing Basics: A One-Day Review
This one-day course provides an overview of the basics of intellectual property (IP) and licensing. It builds a practical understanding of core IP and licensing concepts from both the business and legal perspectives. Each topic, taught by both legal and business experts working as a team, is divided into five sections with examples, exercises, and interactions between instructors and fellow students. Topics include an introduction to IP, the basics of IP commercialization and licensing, determining reasonable license fees and royalty rates, managing risks, and a licensing case study.

This highly interactive intensive three-day course focuses on IP licensing in the context of business development including consideration of legal issues, patent decisions and strategy, valuation, negotiation, and ethics. It provides an integrated view on licensing transactions/deals and allows attendees an opportunity to imagine the different hats worn in negotiating an agreement – all practiced in a safe learning environment using real-world agreements and examples. Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) Exam Review Course
This one-day review course and CLP Knowledge Community access help professionals prepare for the CLP exam. Taught by experienced CLP-certified LES members, the emphasis of the course is on the eight CLP domains, the practice exam questions and the participants' results. To be eligible, you will need to take the IP & Licensing Basics 100/IP Business Basics 101 and attend the three-to-four-hour Train-the-Trainer (TTT) workshop. Following your training, you will have access to course materials, coaching, and other resources to get you started.
