CLP April Exam Window Review (2018 AUTM Meeting)

Taught by experienced CLP-certified LES members, the emphasis of this course is on the eight CLP domains, the practice exam questions, and the participants' results. The review also includes access to our Virtual Knowledge Community, providing another opportunity for participants to review the domains and to ask questions of the LES experts. Of those who have taken this review course and the exam, 80 percent have passed. Earning CLP credentials establishes credibility among your colleagues, shows that you understand and utilize the latest industry practices, recognizes your experience and qualifications, and demonstrates your commitment to professional development.

Bob Held is the president of Held Intellectual Property, LLC, and recently worked for TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) in Annapolis, Maryland as the vice president, Intellectual Asset Management, responsible for the strategic management and monetization of TCS's IP portfolio. All assets of TCS were acquired in February 2016. Immediately prior to joining TCS, Held worked for Northrop Grumman Corporation, Electronic Systems Sector from 2003-2011 as the director of the Intellectual Property & Strategic Technology Agreements business unit; and from 1998-2003 he worked at the IP firm British Technology Group (BTG) International. Held has been active in LES (U.S.A. & Canada) since 1998 having served in a variety of roles and has been a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) since 2008.

Michele Riley is a Senior Advisor for the Dispute Consulting group at Stout. She provides a variety of consulting services, with a focus on intellectual property damages and valuation. Michele has testified regarding damages in patent, trademark and copyright infringement, as well as trade secret misappropriation cases. She has performed valuations of intellectual property for arms-length licensing and litigation matters, and assisted clients with the financial aspects of negotiations for the purchase, sale and licensing of intellectual property. In addition, she has audited royalty streams on technology licenses for clients in a number of industries. Michele has written and lectured extensively on methodologies for determining damages in intellectual property infringement matters, as well as valuation techniques for intangible assets. While with Invotex, Michele developed a proprietary e-commerce tool which contained information extracted from technology licenses across a variety of industry categorizations. Michele's other experience includes litigation services, specifically damage valuations and testimony in the areas of breach of contract and unfair competition. Her management and administration of bankruptcy and troubled company engagements have entailed developing financial models, preparing cash flow projections under varying scenarios, and analyzing business segments and operations.

Matthew McNeill is chief innovation officer, VP of IP, Technology & Strategic Alliances at RiteHite. McNeill has overall responsibility for innovation and intellectual property, including the licensing function, which has historically concentrated on in-licensing. He is also concentrated on business development through seeking and acquiring technology for the company. This can range from strategic supply agreements, to joint development, to IP licensing, to joint ventures to IP or corporate acquisition. McNeill has also led business development efforts in emerging technology space in which "ultra-patents" (beyond patent) strategies had to be employed to secure sustainable competitive advantage. He has an undergraduate degree in Physics (Texas A&M) and a law degree (Boston College).


All registration cancellation and refund requests must be made in writing no later than 30 days from the start of the education session.  A refund of all fees, minus a $150 administration fee, will be given for cancellations received by January 18, 2018.  No refunds will be granted for requests postmarked after 30 days out from the start of the education session.

Submit all requests to LES Education Registration via email at education@les.org.  LES regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows.  All requests for exceptions to the cancellation/refund policy must be submitted in writing by the registrant with appropriate documentation no later than 30 days prior to the start of the session.  After that time, no refund considerations will be made.

A transfer of your full registration to another individual is permitted prior to the conference by submitting written request to education@les.org. Onsite transfers must be accompanied by proof of the original confirmation letter. The individual submitting the transfer request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution. Funds from this program cannot be transferred to another education session without prior management approval.
