Pik-Ki Fung

Ms. Fung received her LL.B (Civil) from Université Laval in 2000, her LL.M. in Information Technology Law from Université de Montréal in 2002, and a Graduate Certificate in E-Business from the Telfer School of Management (University of Ottawa) in 2009. She articled with the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva and was called to the bar in Québec in 2003. Ms. Fung started her career with CIPO in 2006 at the Trade-marks Branch and joined the Trade-marks Opposition Board in 2009 as a Hearing Officer. She left CIPO to work as a Review and Appeals Officer at the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada in 2010 and rejoined the Trade-marks Opposition Board in 2013.

Natalie de Paulsen

Ms. de Paulsen received her JD from the University of Toronto in 2004 and her MSc from the University of Ottawa in 2001. She was called to the bar in Ontario. Ms. de Paulsen was an associate at Gowling WLG in its intellectual property department from 2005-2011 where she practiced primarily in the area of trade-marks prosecution. In 2011, she joined the Trade-marks Opposition Board. In addition to decision writing, she is involved in the preparations for the implementation of the Madrid Protocol.


Two members of the Trade-marks Opposition Board (TMOB) will discuss the current state of the TMOB and provide tips for navigating the procedures before the Board prior to the hearing stage.  What to expect and pointers for opposition hearings will also be covered.  Current procedures, timelines, and hearings will also be discussed in the context of section 45 expungement proceedings.


Registration Fees:   $15.00 CAD ($11.25 US approx.)

Please register by November 22 so we can plan accordingly for food and beverage.
