What Licensing Professionals Need to Know About Patent Trolls

Janet MacLeod, PhD, JD, Partner, Fox Rothschild LLP

David Kalow, JD, Solo Practitioner
Heidi J. Martinez, JD, Associate General Counsel, Xerox Corp
James M. Singer, JD, Partner, Fox Rothschild, LLP

Patent Trolls have haunted companies both large and small for two decades with extortive patent assertion practices and litigation abuses. The past year has seen a multi-faceted attack, including a reintroduction of a patent reform bill intended to curb abusive patent litigation, executive actions, Supreme Court decisions, Federal Trade Commission complaints, and state Attorney General lawsuits. Our panel of professionals from the high technology and life science sectors will discuss their experiences with trolls, how the current environment is directing their patent and licensing strategies, and what's ahead.
