This encore presentation, originally presented at the LES 2015 Annual Meeting, which is consistently standing room only, will identify and discuss the top 10 court decisions during the past year affecting licensing. Mr. Levine, a past - President of LES USA & Canada, will discuss the implications of these decisions on the drafting and negotiating of license agreements. 

This presentation will focus on: 

  • Cases that impact the way we negotiate and draft patent license agreements
  • How we initiate patent license negotiations

Cases addressing damages calculations, and/or expert theories/testimony, in patent litigation are not covered in this workshop

Russell E. Levine
 is a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago, where he has spent his entire 29+ year career. He focuses his jury trial, bench trial and alternative dispute resolution practice on patent infringement matters and disputes involving and related to technology transfer and patent license agreements. His technology transfer practice includes structuring and negotiating both licensing-in and licensing-out transactions. Russell is the immediate past-president of LES (USA & Canada). He has received numerous accolades for his IP practice, including being named for several years running in the IAM Patent 1000: The World's Leading Patent Practitionersand IAM Strategy 300: The World's Leading IP Strategists. He also won the International Law Office 2012 Client Choice Award in Litigation for the U.S.
