LES Houston Chapter presents:

Cybersecurity in a High-Value Data World

An Expert Presentation

Program Description

Data is a key component in today’s business transactions. High-value data is often the target of a cyberattack. Organizations dealing with intellectual property face a unique challenge when developing and executing a cybersecurity strategy. However, organizations can learn from the breaches that others have faced and implement new strategies to prevent future incidents and reputation-damaging headlines. This program will examine past breaches, thefts of IP, lessons learned, and what can be done to better protect against cybersecurity breaches.

Discussion Points:

  • The high-dollar value in licensing data in today’s transactions and liability for breaches.
  • The types of breaches previously experienced by IP organizations.
  • Breaches focused on theft of trade secrets.
  • Where did the attacks originate from?
  • How were the breaches discovered?
  • What could have been done to prevent the breach?
  • Are there similar flaws in my organization’s culture, strategy, or protocols that I can address to prevent a similar breach?
  • Considerations for agreement provisions/clauses to better protect an organization handling data for its customers, contractors, vendors, etc.

CLE: One hour of CLE credit is being applied for.

Light hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine and soft drinks.
