Program:

SELECTED COMPLEXITIES OF COST MANAGEMENT IN PHARMACEUTICAL BUSINESS:

Product costs (SOD only) – most companies review only internal costs year by year Inventory Management – Struggle to find the right product mix and the significant financial penalties of the inventory write offs

Logistics and Distribution – how to get closer to customers and how to serve them well in the ever changing and demanding environment?

PRODUCT COST AND COST MODELING – PREDICTING COST OF COMPETITION:

Formula that includes API, Mfg., Packaging and yield factor – simple and accurate way to capture costs Examples of cost modeling – telling story of which part of the cost is dominant and key to address Key learnings

COST MODELING APPLICABILITY WITHIN THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY AND OUTSIDE:

Ability to use cost modeling for transition molecules from patent protected to loss of exclusivity Make vs Buy decisions based on the cost of competition and own ability to compete How to leverage the knowledge of cost of products within the healthcare area? – Walmart, PillPack, GoGoMEDS

Speaker:

Christopher Kutyla, Master of Economics, MBA
President, Network Lite

Chris Kutyla is an innovative leader in global supply chain optimization. He has 30+ years of experience in global supply chain, manufacturing and distribution management in the Pharmaceutical industry including API strategic sourcing and manufacturing. While working for large pharma companies such as Pfizer and Schering Plough, Chris designed and implemented supply chain and marketing strategies and tools for key major brands such as Lipitor, Viagra and Lyrica allowing these brands to stay competitive even in their late life cycle.

One of the key areas designed, developed and put in place was cost management system and cost modeling allowing Chris to accurately estimate cost of making a tablet and to put that knowledge into programs that drove aspects of life cycle of each molecule and helped in improving top and bottom line. This knowledge could be also applied outside of a particular company and used in the larger programs that evolve around healthcare and affordable medicines.

While working for smaller pharma companies such as Watson and Par, Chris worked on enhancing their business positions by improving product availability and designing and implementing prudent inventory and unique cost management programs. Chris found that focusing on sales and costs not only extends the profitable period of each molecule but also frees up funds to invest in people, strengthen processes and systems and ultimately provides the ability to compete.

This background enables Network Lite to provide tools and techniques to get the most out of their clients’ supply chain.
