CLP April Exam Window Review (2019 AUTM Meeting)
Taught by experienced CLP-certified LES members, the emphasis of this course is on the eight CLP domains, the practice exam questions, and the participants' results. The review also includes access to our Virtual Knowledge Community, providing another opportunity for participants to review the domains and to ask questions of the LES experts. Of those who have taken this review course and the exam, 80 percent have passed. Bob Held is the president of Held Intellectual Property, LLC, and recently worked for TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) in Annapolis, Maryland as the vice president, Intellectual Asset Management, responsible for the strategic management and monetization of TCS's IP portfolio. All assets of TCS were acquired in February 2016. Immediately prior to joining TCS, Held worked for Northrop Grumman Corporation, Electronic Systems Sector from 2003-2011 as the director of the Intellectual Property & Strategic Technology Agreements business unit; and from 1998-2003 he worked at the IP firm British Technology Group (BTG) International. Held has been active in LES (U.S.A. & Canada) since 1998 having served in a variety of roles and has been a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) since 2008.
Krista Holt is a Managing Director at Econ One Research, Inc. She testifies as an expert in patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, false advertising, antitrust, class action, and breach of contract cases on analyses of lost profits, price erosion, determination of reasonable royalties, accounting of defendant’s profits, domestic industry, commercial success, intellectual property valuations, marketing, and patent and trademark surveys. Ms. Holt provides testimony on economic damages, valuation, marketing, survey and licensing matters in intellectual property disputes before federal and state courts, the Court of Federal Claims and the International Trade Commission, as well as in mediation and arbitration matters. Prior to joining Econ One, Ms. Holt served as the President and CEO of GreatBridge Consulting, Inc. Founded by Ms. Holt in 2012, GreatBridge was a national consulting firm specializing in economic damages, surveys, marketing, valuation, licensing and litigation support services for intellectual property, antitrust, commercial damages, class action, and business consulting. Ms. Holt has also previously served as Vice President at The Kenrich Group, a national business and litigation consulting firm, where she founded and managed the Intellectual Property Practice. She founded and led the Washington, D.C. Expert Testimony Practice for damages and National Survey Practice as a Managing Director for Ocean Tomo, a firm providing financial products and services related to intellectual property.
Prior to its acquisition by Ocean Tomo, Ms. Holt was a Senior Consultant for Tait Advisory Services’ Intellectual Property Practice for damages and founded and led their Survey Practice. She also served as senior financial officer of a manufacturing wholesaler and an engineering firm, and as the Director of Marketing at a top marketing firm. In addition to her damages testimony, Ms. Holt has been providing survey services for patent and Lanham Act surveys for over a decade. She has a professional background in market research, and was one of the first professionals to introduce the use of surveys in patent cases. Ms. Holt has designed, analyzed and rebutted patent surveys including conjoint, usage and demand, and trademark surveys including confusion, dilution, genericness, secondary meaning, fame and false advertising.
Ms. Holt draws on her experience in patent litigation, surveys, valuations and licensing negotiations which enhance the quality and credibility of her forensic analyses. She has provided services including expert testimony, surveys, valuation and consulting in over two hundred cases. Ms. Holt holds an MBA from the University of Louisville and a BA from Wake Forest University.
Matthew McNeill is chief innovation officer, VP of IP, Technology & Strategic Alliances at RiteHite. McNeill has overall responsibility for innovation and intellectual property, including the licensing function, which has historically concentrated on in-licensing. He is also concentrated on business development through seeking and acquiring technology for the company. This can range from strategic supply agreements, to joint development, to IP licensing, to joint ventures to IP or corporate acquisition. McNeill has also led business development efforts in emerging technology space in which "ultra-patents" (beyond patent) strategies had to be employed to secure sustainable competitive advantage. He has an undergraduate degree in Physics (Texas A&M) and a law degree (Boston College).
CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICY:
All registration cancellation and refund requests must be made in writing no later than 30 days from the start of the education session. A refund of all fees, minus a $150 administration fee, will be given for cancellations received by January 10, 2019. No refunds will be granted for requests postmarked after 30 days out from the start of the education session.
Submit all requests to LES Education Registration via email at email@example.com. LES regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows. All requests for exceptions to the cancellation/refund policy must be submitted in writing by the registrant with appropriate documentation no later than 30 days prior to the start of the session. After that time, no refund considerations will be made.
A transfer of your full registration to another individual is permitted prior to the conference by submitting written request to firstname.lastname@example.org. Onsite transfers must be accompanied by proof of the original confirmation letter. The individual submitting the transfer request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution. Funds from this program cannot be transferred to another education session without prior management approval.
