From Canola to Cannabis: A Growing Interest in Plant Protection

In person meeting

Program:

The recent legalization of cannabis in several US states and its upcoming legalization in Canada introduce a host of new issues in this area. In particular, multiple actors in the commercialization of cannabis are at work to ensure optimal market shares in newly opened jurisdictions. Those that will prevail most likely include those who innovate, and understand and use the intellectual property tools available to protect their innovations. The panel will discuss the tools available to protect plants in Canada and the United States and provide an insider view of a manufacturer in the large-scale production and commercialization of cannabis and its challenges.
