Expert Panel and Networking Reception

Program Description

The Houston Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) is pleased to present a distinguished panel of innovators and leaders to discuss how the current inefficiencies in patent prosecution and enforcement and negotiation of patent license agreements can be improved to truly incentivize innovation. We will discuss the evolution of patent pools, the effect of pools and serial enforcement on innovation, and future improved practices of patent licensing and enforcement. We welcome you to join us and network with fellow IP and licensing professionals to take part in discussing how changes in our practice may affect you and your clients.

Dr. Edward Egan
Fellow at Rice's Baker Institute & Director of the McNair Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Dr. Edward Egan is a serial entrepreneur, and an applied microeconomist specializing in entrepreneurial finance, intellectual property policy and startup strategy. Dr. Egan has authored a series of publications on the economics of patents, ranging from a paper titled "Untangling Patent Thickets" to a policy brief on Harnessing the Patent Market.

Myron Stout, JD, MBA

Myron Stout, JD, MBA, is a registered patent attorney with experience as both outside counsel and as in-house IP counsel for two global companies. Mr. Stout focuses on IP strategy consulting and IP transactional due diligence to maximize investment returns. Having worked with Fortune 50 companies most of his career to build portfolios, Mr. Stout spends a significant portion of his practice working with investors and high growth potential companies to create and sustain a culture of IP awareness that is proven to lead to exponential increase in value. 


The HESS Club is located in the Galleria area at 5430 Westheimer, about one mile west of Loop 610 between Yorktown and Chimney Rock. HESS is a low, freestanding building behind the much taller, white building.

Turn at the the blue HESS sign on the north side of Westheimer at a short street named Westheimer Way, just east of the large brown building.

Turn left at the HESS sign and drive through the portico of the HESS Club to an open air parking area.

If it is raining look for the underground parking area off Westheimer Way just before reaching the HESS portico. Enter HESS from the north end of the underground parking lot.

The Houston chapter uses online registration for members and non-members and accepts payment by credit card.  Members should login to the registration page with their LES online account.


A $5.00 cancellation fee is applied to all refunds.  Cancellations are non-refundable after October 16.  Substitutions will be accepted.  Contact LES at (703) 234-4058 for assistance.
