Welcome to the Industry-University-Government Interface Sector!
The Industry University Government Interface (IUGI) Sector promotes interaction, collaboration and best practice sharing between licensing and technology transfer professionals and the greater financial community.
From the IUGI Sector Chair
Do you work in Industry? University? Government? It doesn't matter to us! Chances are you work within one of these spaces, but interact and collaborate with members of the other two groups. You are in the right place!
The Industry University Government Interface (IUGI) Sector is one of the Licensing Executives Society's (LES) newest sectors and among the fastest growing. The reason is simple. In today's tough economic times, we must work together and understand each other's needs to make licensing deals successful. And most of us-despite our best intentions-discover that as part of one group we don't know enough about the other two. The IUGI Sector is all about learning from each other: what works, what doesn't.
This year we are putting particular focus on expanding the IUGI Sector with more networking amongst ourselves and with other sectors. We have reorganized our website content to put helpful resources at your fingertips. We plan to uncover and highlight specific outcomes from the IUGI sector; that is, we're asking our committee members to tell us when and how they connect with a new opportunity or license as a result of something IUGI or LES is doing well. Those wins are something for us to celebrate. And we will because it's adding value. It's probably a main reason why you're a member of LES.
Because the IUGI Sector is cross-cutting, you'll find yourself networking closely with other LES sectors such as High-Tech, Life Sciences, and Chemicals, Energy, Environmental & Materials. It's a natural part of doing business today and we encourage and welcome you to use your LES membership in that fashion.
As you look for your niche within LES consider what you might learn and offer to the IUGI Sector. And if you're not sure, contact one of our leadership committee members to get the straight scoop. We look forward to learning more about-and from-you!
