Welcome to the Industry-University-Government Interface Sector!

The Industry University Government Interface (IUGI) Sector promotes interaction, collaboration and best practice sharing between licensing and technology transfer professionals and the greater financial community.

From the IUGI Sector Chair

Does your job require collaboration between Industry, University, and Government organizations? Are you interested in helping these groups work more efficiently together? Do you have ideas on how to create an effective interface between these functionally different players? Do you want to learn how to develop effective interaction amongst them? If so, you have come to the right place!  We need your expertise, wisdom and helping hands to take our sector to the next level.

The Industry University Government Interface (IUGI) Sector is one of the Licensing Executives Society's (LES) newest groups and among the fastest growing. The reason is simple. In today's tough economic times, these varied organizations are realizing that they must work together and understand each other's needs to make licensing deals happen and create impactful outcomes. And most of us-despite our best intentions-discover that as part of one group we don't necessarily know enough about the other two to collaborate most successfully. The IUGI Sector is all about learning from each other: what works, and what doesn't.

This year, our focus will be on building from what was accomplished last year and in years prior. We intend to expand the IUGI Sector with more networking amongst ourselves and with other sectors. We would like to provide more leadership opportunities for our members. We will also keep helpful resources at your fingertips via the IUGI website. We would like to continue highlighting specific outcomes from the IUGI sector as you, our committee members, inform us of when and how you connect with a new opportunity or license as a result of something IUGI or LES is doing well. Those wins deserve mention and celebration. These activities are what adds value and probably represent a big reason why you're a member of LES in the first place. We want our activities within IUGI to be as meaningful as possible.

IUGI as a sector is cross-cutting. We find ourselves networking closely with other LES sectors such as High-Tech, Life Sciences, and Chemicals, Energy, Environmental & Materials. This type of networking is a natural part of doing business today and we encourage and welcome you to use your LES membership this way.

As you look for your niche within LES, consider what you might learn and offer to the IUGI Sector. And if you're not sure, contact one of our leadership committee members to get the straight scoop. We look forward to learning more about-and from-you! Together we can make a difference.
