The Chicago Chapter is pleased to present an event focused on recent cases and issues related to patentable subject matter. The event will be held at the offices of McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP and lunch will be served.

One of the biggest current challenges in patent law is determining the patentability of inventions related to abstract ideas, laws of nature, and natural products. This affects a wide variety of technologies including pharmaceuticals, diagnostic methods, software-controlled medical devices, and software-related applications. In this workshop, Patrick Gattari and Michael Borella will provide a practical understanding of the recent applications of Myriad/Mayo/Alice triad of Supreme Court decisions as well as recent lower court decisions affecting patentability. The presenters will walk through examples of patent claims from a variety technology areas to provide real-world guidance for making patent-related business decisions.
