The Unified Patent Court (UPC) and Unitary Patent (UP) are expected to become operational by December 2017. It is now vital to prepare existing patent portfolios for the new patent litigation landscape in Europe.
In this presentation Clare Salisbury and Anthony Dearden, who are both qualified European Patent Attorneys residing in Vancouver, will guide you through the UPC and UP including:

- Structure of the UPC

Clare Salisbury is a principal and patent agent with nearly two decades of experience helping clients manage their patent portfolios. In addition to being a registered patent agent in Canada and the United States, Clare is also a European patent attorney and chartered U.K. patent attorney. Prior to moving to Canada, Clare worked for a U.K. patent attorney firm and has significant experience preparing and prosecuting European and U.K. patents as well as European opposition work and oral hearings before the European Patent Office. She also holds considerable expertise drafting and prosecuting patents in Canada, the United States and around the world. Read More...
Anthony Dearden is a European and chartered U.K. patent attorney practicing at the Gowling WLG's Vancouver office. His work focuses primarily on drafting and prosecuting patent applications relating to a wide range of subject matter, including mechanical engineering, software, hardware, medical devices, aerospace, telecommunications, electronics and optics.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Anthony spent over eight years in the United Kingdom where he gained extensive experience of the U.K. and European patent systems. He has particular experience of prosecuting applications for inventions bordering on statutory patentability exclusions, such as business methods and computer-implemented methods deemed non-technical. He has handled numerous oppositions to European patents, representing both opponents and patentees of granted European patents, sometimes at oral hearings at the European Patent Office.
