Steven Fricke will discuss how to defend against patent assertion claims regarding Standard Essential Patents ("SEP") whether owned by non-practicing entities (NPEs) or operating companies. Steve will include discussions of (1) FRAND requirements, (2) the availability of injunctions in SEP litigation, (3) different ways to calculate reasonable licensing fees.

Assistant General Counsel
Steven Fricke is an Assistant General Counsel with Microsoft's Intellectual Property and Licensing Group. He has been involved in a number of Microsoft's patent licensing activities. He currently focuses his practice defending against patent infringement matters asserted against Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Steven was a patent litigator and a Boeing Engineer.
