DESCRIPTION
There are certain issues that routinely arise in negotiating knowhow and technology transfer license agreements that are difficult to handle. The reason they're difficult is that each party has legitimate economic concerns – there can be a lot at stake – so unless one side holds a dominant negotiating position, compromises will be necessary to get the deal done. This presentation will point out that technology licensing is not the same as patent licensing and it will explore some of the "thorny issues" that can arise, and it will emphasize different compromise options that can be accepted by both parties.
No matter what industry sector you're in, this is vital information that you can "take home" and apply in future negotiations.

Larry Schroepfer
LS Technology Law Associates is a law practice focusing on intellectual property transactions, including licensing, technology transfer, and a wide range of other technology and intellectual property transactions. Larry is a lawyer with over thirty years total corporate and commercial experience and has been concentrating in the area of licensing and technology transfer for over fifteen years. He served as Senior Director of Licensing with InterDigital Communications, a wireless technology developer; Vice President, Intellectual Property Transactions with BTG International, a UK-based life sciences company, and Director of Licensing with AMP Incorporated (now TE Connectivity), an electronic components manufacturer. He is a frequent speaker in professional groups such as the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the Licensing Executives Society (LES), Larry holds a BA from St. John's (Minnesota), and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. www.lstechlawassociates.com
