TITLE
The Inside Scoop on the Nortel Patent Auction

SPEAKER
John Veschi, Rockstar Consortium

DESCRIPTION
Last year's auction of Nortel's patent portfolio, which resulted in a winning bid of $4.5B by the Rockstar Consortium has significantly raised the profile of patents in the business community as well as the mainstream press and has made IP practitioners sit up and revisit how patent assets should be evaluated and monetized. Subsequent high value patent transactions in the industry underline the ongoing significance of the Nortel transaction.

This presentation will provide insight into the multi-year transformation of Nortel's IP organization that set the stage for this historic result by touching on topics such as: the Nortel patent portfolio; the building of an IP business; the bankruptcy process and the role of IP; and the eventual auction of the patent portfolio.
